1994-2003 7.3L Powerstroke OE ICP Sensor Ford YC3Z-9F838-A

Thumbnail Filmstrip of 1994-2003 7.3L Powerstroke OE ICP Sensor Ford YC3Z-9F838-A Images

The Ford YC3Z-9F838-A is the injection control pressure sensor for a 1997–2003 7.3 Powerstroke. It tells the PCM how much oil pressure the injectors are seeing. It supersedes F6TZ-9F838-A. The sensor only. The pigtail is not included.

A bad ICP is a common no-start and hard-start on these trucks, along with a surge, a stall, or oil in the connector. Unplug it on a crank-no-start. If it fires, the sensor is lying to the PCM. On an early truck it threads into the HPOP reservoir. On a late-1999.5 through 2003 truck it is under the passenger valve cover. Do not confuse it with the IPR. That is the regulator, not the sensor.

It fits 1997–2003 F-Series, E-Series, and Excursion 7.3 trucks. A 1994–1996 truck uses the earlier sensor.

    Fitment

    • 1997–2003 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke
    • F-Series, E-Series, and Excursion
    • Genuine Ford YC3Z-9F838-A
    • Supersedes F6TZ-9F838-A
    • Sensor only
    • Does not fit 1994–1996

Oil in the connector means the sensor has leaked into the harness. Replace the pigtail with the sensor or the new one will read wrong too.

It’s hard to find parts for F450 commercial vehicles as you often cannot search for them at regular automotive stores, etc. Having a place that has your stuff, knows what you want, I’m gonna send you the right thing is invaluable. In this case, I got the right part at the right time. It’s much appreciated. It’s not as fast as overnight Amazon, but it was faster than dealership. That’s for sure.
