While the LBZ Duramax features a highly robust Bosch CP3 high-pressure injection pump and improved fuel injectors, it still shares a common vulnerability with earlier Duramax generations: the lack of a factory fuel lift pump. Installing an aftermarket FASS or AirDog fuel-air separation system is the single best way to protect your fuel system. These lift pumps continuously supply your CP3 pump with clean, air-free fuel under consistent positive pressure, extending the lifespan of your expensive common-rail injectors. Once your fuel delivery is protected, you can safely maximize horsepower and torque with custom electronic tuning, high-output fuel rails, and performance injectors.

Optimizing Airflow and Allison Transmission Longevity

The LBZ responded incredibly well to factory airflow upgrades over its predecessors, but there is still plenty of room for improvement. Replacing the crushed factory downpipe with a smooth, mandrel-bent aftermarket downpipe reduces backpressure, lowers exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs), and helps the turbo spool up faster.
