The Alliant AP63413 is an OEM-grade under-valve-cover wiring harness (UVCH) engineered for 1999–2003 7.3 Powerstroke diesel engines. It installs entirely underneath the valve cover, plugging into the internal center pass-through port of the valve cover gasket to deliver 115-volt DC injector pulse signals from the IDM and 12-volt battery power to all four glow plugs on the cylinder bank. Alliant Power manufactures this direct replacement harness with oil-submersible wiring insulation and high-temp molded connector plugs designed to match Ford OEM part number F81Z-9D930-AB.
Dead cylinders, rough idling, intermittent injector misfires, P1316 and cylinder contribution diagnostic trouble codes (P0261 through P0284), and hard cold starts with heavy white smoke are what this harness fixes. Over thousands of heat cycles inside the cylinder head, the internal plastic connector clips become brittle, stretch, or work themselves loose from the valve cover gasket connector—the classic 7.3 "quarter-trick" failure. In addition, the internal terminal pins can spread and arc under high IDM voltage, melting the harness plugs and causing total cylinder dropouts. Replacing a degraded or melted internal harness with an Alliant UVCH restores reliable electrical conductivity to the fuel injectors and glow plugs. It is sold as a single under-valve-cover harness; two harnesses are required to refresh an entire engine, and the valve cover gasket, valve covers, and external pigtails are sold separately.
It fits 1999–2003 7.3 Powerstroke Super Duty trucks, Excursions, and E-Series vans equipped with the single 9-pin connector per bank.
Fitment
- 1999–2003 Ford F-250 Super Duty 7.3L Powerstroke
- 1999–2003 Ford F-350 Super Duty 7.3L Powerstroke
- 1999–2003 Ford F-450 / F-550 Super Duty 7.3L Powerstroke
- 2000–2003 Ford Excursion 7.3L Powerstroke
- 1999–2003 Ford E-Series Vans 7.3L Powerstroke
- Replaces Ford OEM part number F81Z-9D930-AB
- Direct fit under-valve-cover wiring harness (UVCH)
- Internal single 9-pin connector to valve cover gasket
- Feeds 4 HEUI fuel injectors and 4 glow plugs per bank
- Single internal harness only (two required per engine)
Disconnect both negative battery cables and remove the valve covers to access the cylinder head valvetrain and factory wiring. When releasing the locking tabs on the injector solenoid connectors and glow plug spade terminals, take care not to snap aged plastic or bend the injector solenoid studs. Route the new harness cleanly along the rocker pedestal stays so wires cannot contact moving pushrods or rocker arms. Press the main connector firmly into the internal valve cover gasket port until the locking retaining tab engages with a positive, audible click, and verify that the mating pass-through pins on the gasket are clean, straight, and unburnt before reinstalling the valve cover.
