This switch is located in the low-pressure fuel supply line ahead of the secondary fuel filter. It continuously monitors fuel delivery pressure to the high-pressure pump. The switch is normally closed and opens once pressure reaches approximately 53 PSI. If fuel pressure drops below this threshold and remains low for more than 60 seconds, the PCM triggers a “Low Fuel Pressure” warning, check engine light, and engine derate to protect the CP4 pump from damage.

A failing fuel pressure switch is a very common problem on 6.7L Powerstroke engines. It frequently causes persistent Low Fuel Pressure warnings, unexpected limp mode/derates, hard starting, extended cranking, or visible diesel leaks at the switch.
