Install notes for 7.3 owners A new pump will fail early if the old fluid and hoses stay in the system.

• Transfer the original press-on pulley with the correct pulley tool. Do not hammer it on.
• Replace the pressure and return hoses if they are original, swollen, or internally deteriorating.
• Flush the entire power steering / hydro-boost circuit with the correct Ford-approved fluid before startup.
• Bleed the system thoroughly. A new pump can whine until air is purged.
• On hydro-boost trucks, this pump also supplies brake assist. Check lines at the booster as well as the steering gear.
