Fix the 6.0L's most notorious hard-start problem for good.
The Alliant Power AP0098 High-Pressure Oil Pump (HPOP) Installation Kit with Updated Fitting replaces the failure-prone factory snap-to-connect (STC) fitting on 2004.5–2010 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke engines. It includes an updated jam-nut-style fitting, the seals and hardware needed to reinstall the HPOP, and the holding tools required to install the new fitting correctly.
The problem with the factory STC fitting.
The STC fitting connects the HPOP to the oil supply branch tube. Ford's two-piece design tends to flex, wearing the seal and locking ring until it leaks, and in some cases the fitting separates completely. When this fitting leaks, the engine can't build enough high-pressure oil to fire the injectors, causing hard starts, stalling or a no-start.
An updated design that replaces the problem.
Alliant's updated fitting threads into the HPOP and locks in place with a jam nut. The factory support bracket and its fasteners aren't reused, since the new fitting design replaces them.
What's Included
- Updated HPOP fitting with jam nut
- Holding tools for installing the fitting
- New seals and O-rings for the HPOP and branch tube
- (3) M8 x 45 HPOP mounting bolts
- (2) M6 x 30 branch-tube bolts
Key Features
- Replaces the failure-prone factory STC fitting
- Updated jam-nut fitting design
- Complete HPOP installation kit with seals and hardware
- Installation holding tools included
- Fits 2004.5–2007 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke F-Series and Excursion and 2004.5–2010 E-Series
- Also fits Navistar VT365
What Problem Does This Solve?
- Hard starts, stalling and no-starts. A leaking STC fitting is one of the most common causes of 6.0L hard-start and no-start conditions. The updated fitting eliminates that leak point.
- Fitting separation. The factory fitting can separate completely, leaving the truck stranded. Alliant's updated design is built to prevent that failure.
- A repeat repair. If your HPOP is exposed during an EGR cooler, oil cooler or other repair, installing this kit at the same time is smart preventive maintenance.
Installation Notes
- Alliant's instructions include matching the new seals to the old ones removed. Several seals in the kit look similar, so matching them prevents HPOP leaks.
- Torque the three HPOP mounting bolts to 23 lb-ft (31 Nm).
- Follow Alliant's technical bulletin (APTB 01-18) for the full fitting installation procedure.
Fitment
Fits 2004.5–2007 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke F-Series and Excursion, 2004.5–2010 E-Series and Navistar VT365 engines with the factory snap-to-connect (STC) fitting. Early 2003–early 2004 engines use a different HPOP design and are not covered by this kit. Need the kit without the updated fitting? See Alliant AP0099.
