ARP 247-4202 Pro Series Head Stud Kit

Replace stretch-prone factory head bolts with ARP’s proven 220,000 PSI ARP2000 studs. This kit delivers the extra clamping force 24-valve Cummins engines need when you tow heavy, add a tuner, raise boost, or just want a more reliable seal.

    Why upgrade to ARP 247-4202

Stock Cummins head bolts are torque-to-yield. Once they stretch under higher cylinder pressure, the head can lift and the gasket fails. ARP 247-4202 studs are made from proprietary ARP2000 alloy, heat-treated, then thread-rolled for far better fatigue strength. They hold the head down more evenly and make future head removal easier.

    Ideal for:

    • Towing and daily heavy-duty use
    • Tuned / high-boost 5.9 and 6.7 Cummins builds
    • Preventing the common blown-head-gasket issue

    Fitment

    Fits 24-valve Cummins only:

    • 1998.5–2007 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 5.9L 24V
    • 2007.5–2024 Ram 2500/3500 (and many 4500/5500) 6.7L Cummins

Not for 12-valve engines (use ARP 247-4203). Includes the longer exhaust-row studs required on this application.

    Kit contents

    • 26 ARP2000 head studs (M12 x 1.75)
    • 26 chrome-moly 12-point nuts
    • 26 hardened parallel-ground washers
    • ARP Ultra-Torque assembly lubricant
    • Installation instructions

Black oxide finish. Broached ends (5mm Allen) for easy install and removal. Nuts take a 14mm 12-point socket.

    Key specs

    • Material: ARP2000
    • Tensile strength: 220,000 PSI
    • Threads rolled after heat treat
    • Centerless ground for concentricity
    • Torque (with ARP Ultra-Torque): 40 → 80 → 125 ft-lbs following the factory sequence

For extreme competition or very high cylinder-pressure builds, consider the ARP 247-4204 Custom Age 625+ kit instead.

Note: Some common-rail engines may need a small valve-cover notch for clearance. Always chase block threads, use ARP lube, and follow ARP’s torque procedure.
