What style of flange does the piece that goes to the turbo compressor inlet have? Is it the old style v band clamp that would mount to a 1996 7.3 turbo ?

It uses a V band clamp but you'll need the E99 V band clamp as it's wider.

It hooks up on the intake plenum like factory. The connection is not made on this piece.

if I upgrade to 3" intake plenums will this work on my 97 with the new v band clamp? im trying to build my own air to water set up

It will fit the turbo but reduce down to 2" at the plenums. You'll need a conversion boot back to 3"
