    The main cause of PCM failure continues to be people pulling out their chips with the key on / engine running, which almost always fries the microprocessor and the chip. Occasionally it's the EEPROM that can fail.

    3 Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty!

    There is a 3 year warranty on all 7.3 Power Stroke PCM's...but only if you send your old/core PCM back!

    All of these fully rebuilt PCM's are shipped fully programmed and ready to install. The 7.3 did not come with the VIN programmed in from the factory, and the odometer mileage reading is stored in the instrument cluster, not the PCM. Make sure the DPC-xxx number on your new PCM is the same as the number on your old PCM, but don't worry if the PCM Box Code / Tear Tag are different. Also, there is no PCM “relearn” period on the 7.3 diesels.

    If you have purchased a rebuilt Excursion PCM, and it says “PATS DISABLED” on the cover, you will need to unplug the PATS module, a black box with a green plug located about 8” above the accelerator pedal, so the Theft light on the dash doesn't flash. None of this has any effect on the key fobs or door lock / unlock functionality.

    If you use a Hydra chip, you will need to use California F-Series pickup programs on it, which do not have PATS enabled. Power Hungry's Excursion tunes do have PATS enabled, and the vehicle will not start even if PATS has been disabled in the PCM. Email us if you're not sure which tunes to select.

    You do not need to disconnect the batteries when installing or removing the PCM, but do make sure the key is out of the ignition. All PCM's are shipped with the chip terminals cleaned and re-soldered; no further cleaning is necessary.

    If you use a performance chip, after installing it in the PCM, please wrap a strip of duct tape around the PCM and chip so it can't come loose, and zip tie the chip cable out of the way where it can't get snagged by your foot.

    I had a failed PCM and did not want to buy one from EBay, not knowing what I was getting. I chose your PCM instead. It was clean, clearly marked and arrived a week after I shipped my old PCM back. I added a Hydra chip to this PCM before installing. The truck stalled several times until the PCM and chip communicated with each other, but now the 1999 Ford F450 7.3 runs better than ever.
