The Edge EvoHT2 86040 is the California edition of the handheld flash programmer. It carries a CARB executive order, so it can be sold and used on emissions-controlled vehicles in all 50 states. The diesel coverage is narrower than the 16040.
It plugs into the OBD-II port, loads an Edge calibration, and backs up the stock file so you can return the PCM to factory. On the diesel side the approved applications are a 2008–2010 6.4 Powerstroke at about 88 hp and 134 lb-ft, 2001–2015 Duramax, and 2003–2012 5.9 and 6.7 Cummins. It also covers the gas trucks on the Edge list. It reads and clears codes, shows live data, and can correct the speedometer for tire size or gear ratio. A decal with the EO numbers comes in the box for a smog check. Edge lists EO D-541-18, with diesel coverage under D-541-7 and D-802.
It does not delete emissions equipment. A 7.3, 6.0, or 6.7 Powerstroke is not on this California file. Those trucks need the 16040, which is not 50-state legal.
