The Flight Systems Electronics Group (FSEG) Pump Mounted Driver (PMD / FSD) is an upgraded, heavy-duty electronic fuel solenoid driver engineered specifically for 1994–2000 Chevrolet and GMC trucks, Suburbans, Tahoes, Yukons, and commercial chassis equipped with the 6.5L Detroit Turbo Diesel and Stanadyne DS-series electronic injection pumps. Redesigned and manufactured in the USA, this module replaces the notoriously failure-prone original Stanadyne black driver. Featuring heavy-duty internal power transistors, upgraded surface-mount technology (SMT), and superior thermal-dissipation pathways, it eliminates heat-induced stalling and sudden engine cutoffs under heavy towing loads.

Problem Solved: Curing Sudden Engine Stalls, Hard Warm Starts & Pump Stiction
The factory Stanadyne PMD mounted directly to the side of the 6.5L injection pump in the engine valley is the single most common failure point on electronic 6.5L Detroit diesels. The internal power transistors generate rapid heat while switching high current to the fuel metering solenoid. Combined with radiant heat trapped under the intake manifold, the factory solder joints crack, causing the module to shut down unexpectedly. Typical symptoms include sudden engine stalling at highway speeds, no-start when warm, stumbling/hesitation, and trouble codes DTC 35/36 (OBD-I) or DTC P1216/P1217 (OBD-II). The redesigned Flight Systems PMD integrates higher-rated thermal transistors and upgraded internal circuitry that withstand severe engine valley temperatures, restoring consistent injector solenoid firing and stopping random shutdowns.
Fitment

- 1994–2000 Chevrolet & GMC C2500 / K2500 6.5L Turbo Diesel
- 1994–2000 Chevrolet & GMC C3500 / K3500 6.5L Turbo Diesel
- 1994–1999 Chevrolet & GMC Suburban (C1500 / C2500 / K1500 / K2500) 6.5L Turbo Diesel
- 1995–1999 Chevrolet Tahoe / 1994–1997 GMC Yukon 6.5L Turbo Diesel
- 1994–2002 Chevrolet Express & GMC Savana 2500 / 3500 6.5L Diesel Vans
- 1994–2002 Chevrolet & GMC P-Series Forward Control / Step Van Commercial Chassis 6.5L Diesel
- Fitment Note: Compatible with all electronic Stanadyne DS4 injection pumps. If replacing an updated gray Stanadyne PMD (which features square harness alignment tabs), an extension harness or adapter pigtail with rounded corners is required to connect to this unit.
Safety & Power Disconnect: Turn off the ignition switch and disconnect both negative battery terminals to avoid electrical spikes to the ECM. Resistor Verification & Transfer: Inspect the connector cavity of the old PMD using a light. Using a small pick or needle-nose pliers, carefully pull the calibration resistor straight out from the connector pins. If the old resistor is missing or damaged, insert a new #5 (factory stock baseline) or #9 (performance / increased WOT fuel delivery) calibration resistor. Slide the resistor firmly into the female connector socket of the new Flight Systems PMD until fully seated over the two internal pins. Mounting Surface Preparation: Whether mounting to the factory injection pump location or an aftermarket remote heat sink cooler, clean the mounting pad surface thoroughly using isopropyl alcohol or brake cleaner. It must be completely flat, dry, and free of dirt. Thermal Pad Placement: Peel the backing and place the included die-cut thermal transfer pad squarely onto the back metal plate of the Flight Systems PMD. (Never run the PMD dry without the thermal pad or quality thermal paste). Fastener Torquing: Position the module onto the pump or remote heat sink. Thread the provided mounting screws into place (using the two long and two short screws in their respective factory locations). Torque Target: Tighten all four screws evenly in a crisscross pattern to exactly 20–23 in-lbs (2.3–2.6 Nm). Do not overtighten, as excessive torque will warp the internal circuit board substrate and damage the driver. Harness Connection: Firmly press the wiring harness connector into the PMD until the locking tab snaps into place. Reconnection & Priming: Reconnect battery terminals. Turn the ignition key to the "RUN" position for 10 seconds to allow the ECM to detect the calibration resistor, then start the truck to confirm smooth idle and zero diagnostic trouble codes.
