The Gator Fasteners HSK73 is a heavy-duty cylinder head stud kit engineered for 1994–2003 7.3 Powerstroke diesel engines. Manufactured from premium, heat-treated alloy steel, these studs deliver an ultra-high tensile strength rating exceeding 220,000 PSI. Gator Fasteners packages the kit with precision centerless-ground studs featuring rolled threads, matching hardened parallel-ground washers, 12-point nuts, and assembly assembly lubricant.
Stretched factory torque-to-yield head bolts, blown cylinder head gaskets, and coolant puking out of the degas bottle under elevated boost and cylinder pressures are what this kit solves. When running upgraded high-performance injectors, larger drop-in or T4 turbochargers, or aggressive ECM tuning, stock 7.3 head bolts experience excessive tensile stretch, lifting the cylinder heads and breaking the composite combustion fire ring seal. Upgrading to high-strength head studs provides the clamping load needed to lock the heads down flat under extreme cylinder pressures. It is the cylinder head stud, nut, and washer kit only; cylinder head gaskets and engine oil are sold separately.

Chase and thoroughly clean all female block cylinder head threads using a bottoming tap or thread chaser, then blow the blind holes completely dry of oil and coolant before installing studs. Thread the studs into the engine block finger-tight only—never torque the studs into the block deck. Generously coat the upper stud threads, washer faces, and nut mating surfaces with the supplied assembly lubricant, and torque the 12-point nuts in the factory spiral sequence in multiple gradual stages up to the manufacturer's final recommended torque specification.
