The Ford E5TZ-9J306-BA is a genuine OEM Motorcraft fuel tank pickup foot and strainer screen assembly engineered for 1994–2003 7.3L and early 6.0L Ford Powerstroke diesel trucks and Excursions. Designed as a direct-fit factory replacement for the fragile fuel intake foot at the bottom of the in-tank sending unit assembly, this OE component features a fuel-resistant nylon polymer housing, a fine-mesh filtration screen, an integrated rubber umbrella bypass check valve, and molded locking retaining tabs. Manufactured to strict Motorcraft factory tolerances, it restores uninterrupted low-pressure fuel delivery down to the bottom of the tank without replacing the entire fuel sending unit assembly.

Sudden engine sputtering, bucking, violent hesitation under throttle, and the classic "running out of fuel at a quarter tank" syndrome are what this pickup foot eliminates. Over years of thermal cycles and constant immersion in modern ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) and biodiesel blends, the original factory plastic pickup foot becomes brittle and snaps off the steel suction line. Once broken, the exposed pickup tube sits two to three inches above the tank floor, drawing air into the fuel supply whenever fuel levels drop below roughly 1/4 tank. This aerated fuel causes HEUI injector cavitation, severe pressure drop, and eventual engine stalling. The Ford E5TZ-9J306-BA snaps directly onto the factory fuel sender tube, pulling clean fuel from the bottom of the tank while blocking sediment from entering the fuel lines. It is a genuine OEM fuel pickup foot and screen assembly only; the fuel tank sending unit, level float arm, rheostat, and tank lock rings are sold separately.

It fits 1994–2003 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty and OBS trucks, as well as 2000–2005 Ford Excursions equipped with the 7.3L or early 6.0L Powerstroke diesel engine across mid-ship and aft-axle fuel tanks.

    Fitment

    • 1994–1997 Ford F-250 / F-350 7.3L Powerstroke (Front Mid-Ship & Rear Tanks)
    • 1999–2003 Ford F-250 Super Duty 7.3L Powerstroke (Mid-Ship Tank)
    • 2003–2004 Ford F-250 Super Duty 6.0L Powerstroke (Mid-Ship Tank)
    • 1999–2003 Ford F-350 Super Duty 7.3L Powerstroke (Mid-Ship Tank)
    • 2003–2004 Ford F-350 Super Duty 6.0L Powerstroke (Mid-Ship Tank)
    • 1999–2003 Ford F-450 / F-550 Super Duty 7.3L Powerstroke (Mid-Ship & Aft-Axle Tanks)
    • 2000–2005 Ford Excursion 7.3L & 6.0L Powerstroke (Rear Tank)
    • Genuine OEM Ford Motorcraft replacement part
    • Direct replacement for factory part numbers E5TZ-9J306-BA and E5TZ9J306BA
    • Permanently fixes the notorious 7.3L/6.0L "runs out of fuel at 1/4 tank" starvation issue
    • Constructed from OEM fuel-grade polymer resistant to ULSD and biodiesel degradation
    • Includes integrated fine-mesh strainer screen, rubber umbrella bypass valve, and locking retaining collar
    • Rebuilds the bottom of the OEM fuel sending unit without replacing the expensive complete sender
    • Single fuel tank pickup foot and screen unit only

Drop the fuel tank or remove the truck bed mounting bolts to access the top of the fuel sending unit, disconnecting all electrical harness plugs, quick-disconnect fuel supply and return lines, and filler neck hoses. Unscrew the threaded lock ring or pry the retaining ring free, then carefully lift the fuel sending unit out of the tank bore. Inspect the bottom of the steel pickup tube; broken fragments of the deteriorated original foot will frequently be resting on the bottom of the tank. Remove all broken plastic chunks, sludge, and debris from the tank floor before proceeding. Thoroughly clean the mounting end of the sending unit pickup tube, press the new Ford E5TZ-9J306-BA pickup foot firmly onto the tube until the locking tabs snap positively into place, and verify the small umbrella bypass valve is seated flat against the housing. Clean the tank sealing flange, fit a new Viton O-ring gasket onto the tank opening, reinstall the fuel sending unit, and secure the lock ring before reconnecting the fuel lines and wiring harnesses.
