The Ford F81Z-9236-AA is a genuine OEM fuel bowl check valve stand pipe engineered for 1999–2003 7.3 Powerstroke engines. It mounts inside the center of the factory engine valley fuel filter bowl, acting as the internal vertical guide for the fuel filter cartridge while housing the internal spring-loaded check valve and bypass mechanism. Ford manufactures this factory component with durable fuel-rated composite polymers and includes the internal valve components and bottom sealing O-rings required for installation.
Extended crank times after sitting, lost fuel prime, fuel bypassing the filter media, or hard starting caused by cracked plastic tubes and sticking internal check valves are what this stand pipe fixes. Over decades of hot engine cycles and filter changes, the composite stand pipe can become brittle, crack, or break off during filter swaps, allowing unfiltered fuel or draining fuel back down to the tank when the engine is shut off. It is the fuel bowl check valve stand pipe assembly only; the aluminum fuel bowl housing, fuel filter element, and lid are sold separately.
It fits 1999–2003 7.3 Powerstroke Super Duty trucks, Excursions, and E-Series vans equipped with the factory fuel filter bowl.

Drain the fuel filter bowl completely using the yellow drain valve before unthreading the cap and removing the old fuel filter element. Take care when unthreading or unsnapping the damaged stand pipe from the base of the aluminum housing to avoid dropping broken plastic fragments into the lower fuel ports. Clean the internal bore thoroughly with a lint-free cloth, lubricate the new bottom O-ring seals with clean diesel fuel or clean engine oil, and seat the pipe firmly straight down into the housing base until fully engaged before installing the fresh filter.
