Hayden 2835 Severe Duty Thermal Fan Clutch for 1994–1997 7.3L OBS Powerstroke

Keep your 7.3L Power Stroke cooler under load with the Hayden 2835 heavy-duty thermal fan clutch. This is the popular severe-duty replacement for 1994–1997 OBS Ford F-250, F-350, Super Duty, and E-350 7.3L diesel trucks.

    Why it matters

A worn fan clutch is a common reason these trucks run hot while towing, climbing grades, or sitting in traffic. The Hayden 2835 is a reverse-rotation (counterclockwise) thermal clutch designed for severe-duty truck use. It engages with temperature to pull strong airflow when you need it, then slips to cut noise and drag when the engine is cool.

Many owners also use it with a fan-clutch adapter to convert 2003–2007 6.0L Powerstrokes from the electronic clutch to a more reliable mechanical setup (often reusing the 6.0 fan blade).

    Key features

    • Severe-duty thermal (viscous) design
    • Aluminum construction with thicker body and deep-finned faceplate for better heat dissipation
    • Larger land-and-groove working surface (~70 sq in)
    • Engages to 80–90% of shaft speed; slips to 20–30% when disengaged
    • 6-bolt fan mount, 6" bolt circle, 5/16-18
    • Meets or exceeds OEM specs
    • Direct replacement for Ford F5TZ-8A616-KB (and equivalents)

    Fitment

    • 1994–1997 Ford F-250 / F-350 / F-Super Duty 7.3L Powerstroke
    • 1995–1997 Ford E-350 Econoline / Club Wagon 7.3L
    • Also used in 6.0L mechanical fan conversions (adapter required)

Note: Installation typically requires a 47 mm fan clutch wrench and pulley holder. The fan will roar when fully locked—this is normal. A unit that stays locked all the time is not working correctly.

This is a proven, affordable upgrade for better cooling, especially if you tow or run in hot weather.
