This precision-machined steel adapter lets you install a 1997 7.3L Powerstroke mechanical fan clutch on the 6.0L water pump while reusing your original 6.0L fan.

The mechanical clutch engages earlier and more consistently—typically locking up around 200°F—delivering stronger cooling under load. This helps lower engine temperatures during heavy towing, improves A/C performance in hot weather, and removes dependence on the electronic fan control system that can fail or behave inconsistently.

Important notes This adapter works only with a 1997 7.3L Ford fan clutch. The 6.0L fan bolts directly to that clutch. Installation sets two soft codes (fan speed and circuit) that appear on a scan but will not trigger a Check Engine light and require no tuning.

Because the mechanical clutch stays engaged longer and at lower temperatures, you may notice more fan noise and a modest drop in fuel economy. This setup is ideal for fleets, work trucks, and heavy towing where maximum cooling reliability matters more than quiet operation or peak MPG.
