The MBRP S6285AL (Armor Lite / Installer Series) is a heavy-duty 4-inch cat-back single-exit exhaust system engineered specifically for 2004–2007 Ford E-250 and E-350 Econoline vans equipped with the 6.0L Powerstroke diesel engine. Constructed from heavy-gauge 16-gauge aluminized steel with smooth mandrel-bent 4-inch tubing, this direct-fit system connects directly to the outlet of the factory catalytic converter to keep emissions equipment intact while drastically opening up exhaust flow. MBRP equips this van-specific kit with custom intermediate piping tailored to the E-Series chassis, a high-flow chambered performance muffler, an over-axle tailpipe engineered to navigate the tight rear suspension and underbody clearance of the Econoline platform, OE-style welded hangers, and an angled mirror-polished 5-inch T304 stainless steel exhaust tip.

Trapped under-hood thermal buildup in cramped van doghouses, high exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs) under heavy commercial payload or towing, restrictive factory 3-inch piping, power-choking OEM muffler baffles, sluggish turbo spool, and muffled exhaust tone are what this system eliminates. The tight packaging of the Ford E-Series engine bay concentrates heat around the 6.0L engine, making unrestricted exhaust evacuation downstream critical for engine longevity. The MBRP S6285AL replaces restrictive factory tubing behind the catalytic converter with continuous 4-inch mandrel-bent tubing. This drops peak EGTs, relieves backpressure on the turbo, improves low-end throttle response, and provides MBRP's signature deep "Street Profile" exhaust note without excessive in-cabin resonance. It is a complete 4-inch cat-back exhaust system including intermediate tubing, performance muffler, over-axle pipe, tailpipe, 5-inch polished tip, and heavy-duty clamps; turbo downpipes and catalytic converter delete pipes are not included.

Safely support the van on a heavy-duty automotive lift or commercial-grade tall jack stands placed securely under the frame, ensuring the rear axle has adequate clearance to hang, and disconnect both negative battery cables. Spray penetrating lubricant onto the exhaust clamp/flange connection behind the factory catalytic converter and all factory rubber hanger isolators along the frame rail. Loosen the factory clamp directly behind the catalytic converter and slide the factory exhaust rearward to disengage the hangers from the rubber chassis mounts. Lower the factory intermediate pipe, muffler, and tailpipe assembly out from under the van (cutting the factory over-axle pipe just behind the muffler with a reciprocating saw makes extraction significantly easier around the rear axle and leaf springs). Slide the MBRP 4-inch intermediate adapter pipe onto the factory catalytic converter outlet, securing the band clamp loosely to allow for alignment adjustments. Install the chambered performance muffler onto the intermediate pipe, supporting it with a stand, and snake the over-axle pipe and tailpipe over the axle housing, guiding the welded hanger rods directly into the factory chassis rubber isolators. Slip the 5-inch polished stainless tip onto the tailpipe exit behind the passenger rear tire, align the complete assembly to ensure at least 1 inch of clearance around brake lines, shock absorbers, rear wiring harnesses, and the spare tire, and tighten all heavy-duty band clamps progressively from front to back to 35–40 ft-lbs.
