The Racor PFF4596 ParFit is an OEM-grade drop-in fuel filter and water separator element designed for 1999–2003 7.3 Powerstroke engines. As the original equipment manufacturer behind the factory Motorcraft FD-4596 filter, Parker Racor manufactures this cartridge to exact factory specifications using proprietary Aquabloc water-repelling filter media. It installs directly inside the valley-mounted fuel filter housing to shield HEUI injectors from emulsified water, abrasive road sediment, and tank contaminants.
Fuel starvation under load, hard cranking, rough idle, and premature HEUI injector scoring or tip failure caused by water bypass and contaminated fuel are what this filter cures. Many cheap aftermarket filters use inferior, non-pleated paper that collapses under suction or lets water slip through into the high-pressure oil-actuated injectors. The Racor ParFit element separates water on contact and traps fine particulate without restricting high-volume fuel flow. It includes the replacement drop-in filter cartridge and a new filter cap lid O-ring seal; the plastic filter bowl lid and housing assembly are sold separately.
It fits 1999–2003 7.3 Powerstroke Super Duty trucks, Excursions, and E-Series vans equipped with the factory fuel filter bowl.

- 1999–2003 Ford F-350 Super Duty 7.3L Powerstroke
- 1999–2003 Ford F-450 Super Duty 7.3L Powerstroke
- 1999–2003 Ford F-550 Super Duty 7.3L Powerstroke
- 2000–2003 Ford Excursion 7.3L Powerstroke
- 1999–2003 Ford E-Series Vans 7.3L Powerstroke
- Navistar T444E diesel engines
- OEM direct replacement for Motorcraft FD-4596 and Ford F81Z-9N184-AA
- High-efficiency Aquabloc water-separating media
- Includes replacement lid O-ring seal
- Filter cartridge element only
Open the yellow fuel drain valve with a drain hose attached to empty the valley bowl before unthreading the lid to keep fuel from spilling into the engine valley. Thoroughly wipe down the inside surfaces of the bowl and inspect the bottom fuel heater element for debris or thermal damage before dropping the new cartridge into place. Lightly coat the new cap O-ring seal with clean diesel fuel or motor oil, hand-tighten the lid until snug, and cycle the ignition key 2–3 times for 20 seconds each so the lift pump primes the housing before starting the truck.
