South Bend SDD3250-6 Street Dual Disc Clutch Kit 650 HP / 1,300 ft-lbs | 2000.5–2005.5 5.9 Cummins NV5600
The South Bend SDD3250-6 is a premium street/tow dual disc clutch engineered specifically for modified 2000.5–2005.5 Dodge Ram 5.9L Cummins trucks with the NV5600 6-speed manual transmission (1-3/8" input shaft, HO models). It delivers the holding power your tuned Cummins needs while maintaining excellent drivability for daily driving and heavy towing.
Key Features & Benefits
- Rated for 650 HP and 1,300 ft-lbs of torque — Handles serious power levels from tuned 5.9 Cummins builds.
- Hybrid organic/ceramic friction material — 12 organic buttons on one side and 12 ceramic buttons on the other. The organic side faces the flywheel and pressure plate for smooth, quiet engagement and excellent low-speed manners. Ceramic provides strong bite and heat resistance under load.
- Dual disc design — Significantly more holding surface area and better heat dissipation than single disc clutches.
- 13" diaphragm-style pressure plate (3,250 lb clamp load) — Strong holding power with relatively light pedal effort.
- Quiet, refined operation — Stabilized floater plate with hardened dowel pins, neoprene dampeners, and a dampened disc design reduce rattle and gear rollover.
- Complete bolt-in kit — Includes solid-mass ductile iron flywheel, crank bolts, heavy-duty roller bearing pilot bushing, clutch fork, throw-out bearing, and alignment tool.
Towing capacity: Rated for 20,000–30,000+ lbs depending on truck setup and conditions.
Ideal For
- Daily-driven or work trucks with performance mods (tuning, injectors, turbo, etc.)
- Drivers who want strong holding power without the harsh engagement of a full-ceramic or puck-style clutch
- Heavy towing while still enjoying street-friendly drivability
Not recommended for completely stock trucks or competition use (sled pulling, drag racing). This is a non-SFI street/tow clutch.
Fitment
- 2000.5 – 2005.5 Dodge Ram 2500 / 3500
- 5.9L Cummins HO (High Output / ETH)
- NV5600 6-speed manual transmission with 1-3/8" (1.375") input shaft
- Reverse gear location: up and to the right (cast iron case)
Note: This kit is for the later NV5600 with the larger 1.375" input shaft. Early non-HO NV5600 transmissions (some 1999–early 2000) used a smaller 1.25" shaft and require a different clutch.
