The Warn 11690 is a pair of standard manual locking hubs engineered for 1999–2004 Ford Super Duty F-250 and F-350 trucks, Excursions, and 1995–1997 Dana 50 / Dana 60 front axle applications. Built with all-metal internal splines and durable cast-aluminum dial housings, these 30-spline manual hubs provide direct mechanical engagement between the front axle shafts and wheel hubs. Warn incorporates a 9/10-turn mechanical dial for positive manual locking, eliminating the factory electronic and vacuum control lines entirely.

Failed four-wheel-drive engagement in mud or snow, rotted vacuum lines causing electronic shift-on-the-fly (ESOF) system dropouts, stripped plastic factory hub gears, and vacuum leaks triggering HVAC air vents to default to defrost mode are what this kit cures. Factory Ford auto/manual vacuum hubs rely on delicate plastic internal ratchets, needle bearings, and rubber vacuum pulse seals that dry out, tear, and seize from moisture and road salt. When vacuum is lost, the stock hubs fail to lock when shifted into 4WD. The Warn 11690 manual hubs eliminate all reliance on engine vacuum, providing a 100% mechanical, fail-safe connection that ensures true front axle engagement whenever the dial is turned. It is sold as a complete axle pair (driver and passenger side hubs with internal retaining rings and O-rings); replacement axle stub shafts, wheel unit bearings, and vacuum plug caps are sold separately.

Park the vehicle on a level surface, set the emergency brake, and remove the front wheels if necessary for easier clearance, or pull the factory center caps. Use external snap-ring pliers to remove the large retaining snap ring inside the wheel bearing hub bore, then pull the factory hub assembly straight out. Clean all old grease, road grit, and rust out of the wheel unit bearing splines and the axle shaft stub splines with brake cleaner and a wire brush. Lightly coat the new Warn hub splines with clean chassis grease—avoid packing the hub body full of heavy wheel bearing grease, as excessive grease will hydraulically lock the internal return springs and prevent the hub gears from sliding into engagement in freezing weather. Slide the Warn hub body into the hub bore, line up the internal and external splines, install the provided retaining snap ring firmly into the groove, and fit the dial face. If converting from factory ESOF vacuum hubs, plug or cap the factory vacuum lines at the steering knuckles to prevent engine vacuum leaks and HVAC defrost default issues.
