    7.3 Powerstroke XTC Head Stud Kit

    I was doing injectors and removed the heads to clean them. I figured I should replace the bolts because 1) the engine has 375K+ miles, 2) I do intend on putting more power through it, and 3) because I did not want to end up with one (because it is always at least one) bolt being an issue. These were more affordable the ARP kit and when I got them, they were very nice quality and packaged well. Came with a 12 point socket and a long allen key wrench, too. I have used ARP stud kits before and the only quality difference were the washers. ARP�s washers seem machined while the XTC�s are clearly high volume, low cost. This by NO MEANS diminishes this kit, IMO. Just a minor difference. One thing I will say is PAY ATTENTION TO THE DIRECTIONS. The top four studs for each head are short to clear the injector hold downs. The directions state this and the shorter studs are even packaged separately. But if you don�t read the directions in their entirety before installing, you will be removing and re-installing studs where they need to go like I did. Overall, great kit for a great price and would recommend them. Be prepared, though. 125 ft/pd final torque is a lot. Especially when torquing with the engine installed in the chassis.
