The Alliant AP0009 is an OEM-grade valve cover gasket external pigtail repair kit engineered for 1999–2003 7.3 Powerstroke diesel engines. It replaces the external engine wiring harness connector plug that snaps into the valve cover gasket pass-through to power the fuel injectors and glow plugs. Alliant Power manufactures this kit with a heavy-duty, heat-resistant molded connector housing, OEM-spec terminal pins, pre-terminated wire leads, and heat-shrink butt connectors.
Dead injector cylinders, recurring P1316 and cylinder-specific injector contribution codes (P0261 through P0284), inoperative glow plugs causing cold-start smoke, and melted or brittle harness plugs are what this kit solves. Over decades of high under-hood heat cycles and oil exposure, the factory external 9-pin connector terminals loosen, arc, and melt into the valve cover gasket pass-through. This electrical arcing creates intermittent signal dropouts to the HEUI injectors and glow plugs. Splicing in a fresh Alliant repair pigtail restores clean electrical contact and full voltage supply across the valve cover seal without having to replace the expensive main engine wiring harness. It is the external wiring pigtail connector and heat-shrink terminal repair kit only; the valve cover gasket and internal under-valve-cover harness (UVCH) are sold separately.
It fits the external engine harness on 1999–2003 7.3 Powerstroke Ford Super Duty trucks, Excursions, and E-Series vans utilizing the single 9-pin connector per bank.

- 1999–2003 Ford E-Series Vans 7.3L Powerstroke
- Direct OEM replacement for melted or burnt external valve cover harness plugs
- Replaces Ford part number 1C3Z-14489-AA
- Single 9-pin connector configuration (1 per side, 2 required per engine)
- Includes heat-shrink butt connectors and color-coded wire leads
- Pigtail connector repair kit only
Disconnect both negative battery cables before cutting into the factory engine wiring harness to avoid accidental short circuits. When clipping off the damaged factory connector, cut and splice one wire at a time to prevent miswiring injector signal and glow plug power feeds. Stagger each cut by approximately 1/2-inch along the harness to prevent a bulky splice cluster that interferes with valve cover clearances. Use a quality crimping tool on the included butt connectors, apply controlled heat with a heat gun to shrink the adhesive-lined sleeves for a watertight seal, and inspect the mating pins on the valve cover gasket pass-through for heat damage or melting before plugging in the new connector.
