The BD 2023144 is a turbo-mounted exhaust brake for a 1999–2003 7.3 Powerstroke. It replaces the factory elbow between the turbo and the downpipe. It is air-actuated. The BrakeLoc, 1030755, only closes the factory EBP valve. This is the real brake.
The bore is 4 inches. BD’s variable-orifice butterfly regulates backpressure across the rpm range instead of only at the top. Open, it does not sit in the exhaust stream. An EGT port and a 1/4-inch pressure port are in the casting. A lighted switch is included. An automatic needs a TowLoc, AutoLoc, or TorqLoc to hold the converter, or the engine falls to idle and the brake does nothing. It is not legal for sale or use in California.
It fits 1999–2003 7.3 trucks. A 1994–1997 OBS uses a different brake.
