The DTC Rebuild & Testing Process
Every DTC IDM starts with a complete rebuild where 15–20 components are replaced. The High Voltage / High Current units then receive two additional precision modifications.
After modification, each module goes through a 20-point test bench procedure, followed by a demanding 30-minute continuous run at 3000 RPM and 3.0 ms injector pulse width — conditions far harsher than real-world use. Only units that pass this rigorous testing are approved for sale.
DTC has been performing the high-voltage modification since 2004 and invented the high-current modification in 2008. Thousands of these units have been installed with no reported negative effects on injectors or the IDM itself.
Important Note
Upgraded High Voltage / High Current IDMs may set a P1298 soft code. This is completely normal and will not cause any drivability issues or damage.
