DieselSite Wicked Wheel 2 – Billet Compressor Wheel for Garrett GTP38R

Upgrade your 1999.5-2003 7.3L Powerstroke’s Garrett PowerMax GTP38R (or compatible aftermarket D66-style) ball-bearing turbo with the DieselSite Wicked Wheel 2. This billet compressor wheel delivers superior surge protection, faster spool, higher boost, lower EGTs, and sharper throttle response compared to the stock cast wheel.

    Key Benefits

    • Superior surge protection
    • Faster turbo spool and improved throttle response
    • Increased airflow, boost, and performance
    • Lower exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs)
    • Reduced smoke
    • Lightweight billet construction

DieselSite tested multiple blade counts, dimensions, and pitch angles to create the optimal design for this application. The result is a true drop-in billet wheel that improves efficiency across the compressor map.

WW38R vs WW3866 – Which One Do You Need?

Both the WW38R and WW3866 fit the same GTP38R and aftermarket D66-style turbos, but they are optimized for different goals:

WW38R (38R Model) Designed for maximum peak horsepower. It flows more air up top and is the better choice when you’re running larger injectors and want the highest possible power numbers.

WW3866 (66 Model) Offers better bottom-end response, quicker spool, and lower EGTs—especially noticeable when towing. It is the preferred option for stock or milder injector setups, daily driving, and towing applications. It also works particularly well with un-ported D66-style compressor covers.

    Quick Recommendation:

    • Choose the WW38R if peak power is your priority and you have larger injectors.
    • Choose the WW3866 if you want stronger low-end response, faster spool, and lower EGTs for towing or milder builds.

    Fitment

    • 1999.5–2003 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke with Garrett PowerMax GTP38R or aftermarket D66-style turbo
    • Not for stock GTP38 or TP38 turbos (use the WW38 for stock turbos)

    Installation Notes

    • Factory balanced — no turbo rebalancing required
    • Standard right-hand thread (turn left to loosen)
    • Snug the wheel until fully seated; it self-tightens
    • Mark the compressor cover joint before removal for easy reassembly

The WW38R remains one of the most popular and effective upgrades for GTP38R-equipped 7.3s, whether you’re daily driving, towing, or building for more power.
