The Mishimoto MMTS-F2D-96L is a low-temperature thermostat for a 1996–2003 7.3 Powerstroke. It opens at 189 degrees. The factory thermostat opens at about 195. The factory part is Motorcraft F6TZ-8575-EA.
Coolant starts moving sooner, so a tow truck or a truck in hot weather runs a little cooler. It is a direct fit in the stock housing. The DieselSite pump kits use the International 205-degree short-stem thermostat. This one does not go in that pump. The housing ring is Driven Diesel DD-73L-TSHR. The warranty is lifetime.
It fits 1996–2003 F-Series, E-Series, and Excursion trucks with the stock 7.3 water pump.

Replace the seal with it. Bleed the system until it opens. A cold climate that already runs a weak heater wants the factory opening temperature.
