7.3 Powerstroke PCM Terminal Repair Service
Stop guessing whether your chip connection is the problem.
On 7.3 Powerstroke trucks, the PCM’s rear J3 port is where a performance chip plugs in. From the factory, that circuit board is coated with a conformal layer to protect against moisture. That coating has to come off before a chip will work. The trouble starts when the coating—and the solder under it—gets scraped away. Bare copper oxidizes, contact gets weak, and the truck starts acting up.
The classic symptom: the truck dies while driving with the chip installed, then runs fine once the chip is removed. Other owners see hard starts, intermittent cutouts, or a chip that never quite “takes.” Left alone, a bad connection can also damage the PCM or the chip.
This service rebuilds those chip terminals the right way. Damaged material is cleaned off and the contacts are professionally re-soldered so the chip has a clean, consistent electrical path. It’s also the better option if you don’t want to prep the terminals yourself before installing a chip.
This is a terminal repair / re-solder service only. It does not include full PCM testing or a rebuild unless you add those separately.

How it works
- Order the service.
- Print and fill out the PCM shipping form and put it in the box.
- Remove the PCM from the truck. Do not ship the plastic mounting bracket.
- Pack the PCM tightly in a rigid box with padding. Customer is responsible for shipping PCM to us.
- We repair the terminals and ship the PCM back.
Packing note: Use a sturdy cardboard box and plenty of cushioning. Padded envelopes are not enough. Damage from poor packing is the sender’s responsibility.
