The Banks 24401 BigHead is a wastegate actuator for a 1999.5–2003 7.3 Powerstroke. It replaces the factory can on a stock GTP38 or a Banks housing.

The stock spring lets the valve blow off its seat when drive pressure rises, which softens boost in the midrange. Banks uses about twice the diaphragm area and twice the spring pressure, so the valve stays seated longer and peak boost comes up sooner. It still opens to control the top of the boost. The valve in the housing stays. This is the actuator only. The same can is in the 24458 Quick-Turbo kit.

It fits late-1999.5 through 2003 F-250 and F-350 trucks. Check the door tag on a 1999. Early 1999 trucks do not have this wastegate. It cannot be shipped to California.

A boost gauge is how you confirm it is holding. If the truck still will not build boost, the up-pipes and the vacuum lines are the next place to look.
