The Garrett 452603-0022 is the wastegate actuator for the GTP38 on a 1999.5–2003 7.3 Powerstroke. It is the can that opens the internal wastegate. The valve and the housing are not included.

A leaking or stuck actuator is a common reason a late 7.3 will not make boost. If the rod will not hold the valve shut, drive pressure dumps and EGTs climb. This is the genuine Garrett can, calibrated to the stock housing. It bolts on. Set the rod length to the factory position. A shortened rod holds the gate shut longer and can overspeed the turbo.

It fits late-1999.5 through 2003 Super Duty and Excursion trucks with a stock GTP38 housing. Early 1999 and OBS turbos do not have this wastegate. Confirm the turbo before you order. A GTP38R uses its own actuator.

If the truck still will not build boost after the can is replaced, the leak is usually the up-pipes or the compressor-housing O-ring, not the wastegate.
