1994-1995 7.3L OBS Powerstroke IPR Valve Motorcraft 2C3Z-9C968-BA

The Motorcraft 2C3Z-9C968-BA is the genuine Ford injection pressure regulator for the early 1994-1995 7.3L Powerstroke. Sold as Motorcraft CM-5112, it supersedes the original F4TZ-9C968-C valve and is the factory-spec part for the early high pressure oil pump.

The IPR is how the PCM builds and holds injection control pressure for the HEUI injectors. When the valve sticks or its seals leak, ICP drops and the truck can crank long, stall, surge or refuse to start hot. This early valve uses an edge filter in the body, which the later 1996-2003 valve does not have.

    • Genuine Ford Part: Motorcraft quality built to the original Ford specification.
    • Early Edge Filter Design: Matches the early pump that relies on the valve's built-in filter.
    • Steady ICP Control: Restores the pressure the PCM commands for clean starts.
    • Supersedes F4TZ-9C968-C: The current Ford service number for the early valve.
    • Direct Fit: Threads into the factory IPR port on the early pump.

    Technical Specifications

    • Part Number: 2C3Z-9C968-BA
    • Motorcraft Number: CM-5112
    • Replaces: Ford F4TZ-9C968-C, International 1824982C91
    • Type: Early injection pressure regulator with edge filter
    • Location: Rear of the high pressure oil pump
    • Warranty: 2 years, unlimited miles (Motorcraft)

Vehicle Fitment & Technical Installation Notes

    • Fitment: 1994-1995 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke F-Series and E-Series with the early high pressure oil pump, engine serial number 187099 and lower. Check the engine serial on the valve cover tag before ordering, since 1996-2003 engines use the late valve without an edge filter.
    • Installation Tip: Unplug the IPR connector and remove the valve with a deep socket or an IPR tool, then check the old screen for metal. Debris in the screen points to a pump or lifter problem that a new valve will not cure.
