7.3 Powerstroke Injection Pressure Regulator (IPR) Valve – Grizzly GA33402
Direct-fit replacement that restores high-pressure oil control in the HEUI injection system so the engine can start, idle, and make power the way it should. The IPR threads into the high-pressure oil pump and is commanded by the PCM to bleed off excess oil, holding Injection Control Pressure on target. When the factory valve sticks, leaks, or loses control, ICP drops and the injectors cannot fire correctly. The GA33402 is built to meet or exceed OEM fit and function with no modifications required.
The 7.3 Powerstroke injects fuel using high-pressure engine oil, not a conventional injection pump. The HPOP supplies that oil and the IPR regulates it. Stable ICP means quicker starts, a smoother idle, and full injector response under load. An out-of-spec IPR is one of the most common causes of hard starts, hot no-starts, surge, and random stalling on 1995.5–2003 trucks.
This valve is commonly used to correct:
- Hard start or no-start, especially when hot
- Long crank times and slow ICP rise
- Rough idle, surge, or stumble
- Stalling at stops or under load
- Weak throttle response and power loss
- Erratic ICP or IPR duty-cycle readings
- Codes such as P1211 and P1283
Key features:
- Direct OEM-style replacement for the late-style 7.3 / T444E IPR
- Precision solenoid control for stable ICP at idle, cruise, and load
- Heavy-duty construction for heat, oil, and high-pressure service
- Meets or exceeds factory fit and function
- Quality alternative to Motorcraft and International without the feel of a lightweight copy
- Installs in the stock HPOP location under the fuel filter housing
Fitment:
- Ford 7.3L Powerstroke, 1995.5–2003
- Navistar T444E, 1995.5–2003 (typically ESN 216,544 and later)
- Common vehicles include 1995.5–2003 F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty; 2000–2003 Excursion 7.3L; 1995.5–2003 E-Series / Econoline 7.3L; and matching T444E applications
- Early 1994–1995.5 OBS engines use a different IPR (Grizzly GA33401). Confirm year, HPOP style, and part number before ordering. GA33402 is the later-style valve commonly listed as without edge filter.

Install notes:
- Located on the back of the HPOP in the engine valley under the fuel bowl
- An IPR socket or dedicated removal tool makes the job much easier
- Lightly oil the O-rings before install
- Typical body torque is 35 ft-lb
- Solenoid retaining nut is about 53 in-lb; do not overtighten
- Many shops replace the 2-wire IPR pigtail at the same time
- After install, verify ICP and IPR duty cycle on a scan tool
- Low ICP can also come from a leaking HPOP, bad ICP sensor, damaged pigtail, or high-pressure oil leaks, so confirm diagnosis before replacement
