The Auto Meter 7072 is a complete pre-packaged triple gauge A-pillar kit engineered for 1999–2003 7.3L and early 2003 6.0L Ford Super Duty trucks and Excursions. Built around Auto Meter’s understated Z-Series line, this turnkey monitoring setup pairs subtle, factory-matching matte black faces, black bezels, high-contrast white markings, and bright fluorescent orange pointers with a vehicle-specific full A-pillar mount molded from heat-resistant ABS composite. The kit includes an electric pyrometer exhaust gas temperature (EGT) gauge (0–1600°F) with a Type-K thermocouple probe, a mechanical boost pressure gauge (0–35 PSI) with nylon boost line and brass fittings, and a short-sweep electric transmission fluid temperature gauge (100–250°F) with a 1/8-inch NPT sender.
Unmonitored exhaust gas temperatures melting pistons under heavy towing, creeping transmission fluid temperatures roasting internal clutch packs, undetected boost leaks robbing low-end torque, and running blind with aftermarket tuning are what this triple gauge kit eliminates. Factory Ford instrument clusters lack boost and exhaust temperature monitoring entirely, relying only on a buffered, non-responsive transmission "dummy" gauge. Auto Meter’s matched Z-Series analog dials deliver precision mechanical and electrical data directly in the driver’s peripheral line of sight with an OEM-clean aesthetic that blends naturally into the factory cab. It is a complete three-gauge analog monitoring system with A-pillar pod mount, sensors, and installation hardware only; it does not plug into the OBD-II port, flash calibrations, or alter ECM programming.
It fits 1999–2003 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty trucks as well as 2000–2003 Ford Excursions equipped with the 7.3L Powerstroke or early 2003 6.0L Powerstroke diesel engine.

- Auto Meter Z-Series 2-1/16-inch subtle matte black analog dials with black bezels
- Electric Pyrometer EGT gauge (0–1600°F) with Type-K pre-turbo exhaust thermocouple
- Mechanical Boost pressure gauge (0–35 PSI) with nylon tubing kit and compression fittings
- Short-sweep electric Transmission Temperature gauge (100–250°F) with 1/8" NPT sender
- Full-length molded ABS A-pillar pod textured to match factory interior lines (paintable)
- Traditional incandescent perimeter lighting with red and green bulb slip-covers
- Complete analog gauge and pillar package only
Disconnect both negative battery cables before beginning installation to prevent accidental electrical shorts while routing wiring through the cab firewall. For the fastest and most accurate exhaust temperature readings, drill and tap the driver-side exhaust manifold 1/8-inch NPT upstream of the turbo up-pipe collector, running the engine at idle or packing heavy grease into the tap flutes to trap loose metal shavings. Thread the electric transmission temperature sender directly into the factory 1/8-inch NPT test port located on the driver side of the 4R100 or 5R110 transmission case—never use Teflon tape on the sender threads, as it blocks the ground circuit required for accurate signal feedback. Tap the mechanical boost line into the intake manifold or compressor spider using the included compression fitting, feeding the nylon line through a protective firewall rubber grommet clear of sharp sheet metal edges and hot exhaust downpipes. Secure the full A-pillar pod over the factory pillar trim using the supplied fasteners, and tie the gauge lighting leads into the factory instrument cluster dimmer switch for glare-free night towing.
