1 Question asked on 1994-2003 7.3L Powerstroke Cam Position Sensor Alliant AP63400 •

Q jerry • 09/18/2026, 0:28:23 AM where is this switch located on the 7.3 ford engine
A 09/18/2026, 2:37:56 PM The Camshaft Position Sensor (CPS) on a 7.3L Powerstroke is located on the front of the engine block, on the passenger side. To find it: Locate the main crankshaft pulley (the large harmonic balancer) at the very bottom center of the front of the engine. Look just behind and slightly above this pulley, at roughly the 10 o'clock position relative to the pulley itself. You are looking for a small, usually black or gray sensor with a 3-wire electrical connector plugged into it. It is secured directly into the timing cover with a single 10mm bolt. Because of its position behind the accessories and fan stator, it is almost always easiest to access from underneath the truck by reaching up behind the passenger side of the main pulley.

Arrived pretty fast and took me 10 minutes to install it works perfect. Some guys say the purple is better but the gray one is the way to go.
