The Pacbrake C40019 is an inline PRXB exhaust brake for a 1999–2003 7.3 Powerstroke with a 4R100 automatic, built November 1998 or newer. It is a 4-inch air-actuated brake. A manual truck will not take this kit.
It mounts in the exhaust, not on the turbo. An air tank, hose, and the controls are in the box. Pacbrake rates it for more holdback in the 1400 to 1800 rpm range, where these trucks actually tow. A spring limits exhaust pressure so it cannot over-brake the engine. Open, it does not restrict flow. It will not apply below about 22 mph, or with the throttle off idle. The adapters in the kit are for factory pipe. A 4-inch aftermarket system needs two C11342 adapters. It is not for sale in California.
It fits 1999–2003 F-250 and F-350 trucks with the automatic. It does not fit a manual or a 1994–1997 OBS.
